Investing in Women to Build Future Leaders
CCG Group Case Study
The Challenge:
As a growing, multi-division construction business, CCG wanted to ensure their people were aligned around a shared message, vision and set of values, creating consistency in how leaders communicate and show up across the organisation. At the same time, they recognised that many of their female managers were operating in a predominantly male environment, where confidence, visibility and influence can sometimes feel harder to establish.
CCG saw an opportunity to provide dedicated women in leadership training for construction that would both strengthen leadership capability and demonstrate a clear commitment to equity and progression. Their aim was to build confidence, remove barriers that women may face in the industry, and create a supportive environment where female leaders could learn from one another, share experiences and grow together. Ultimately, they wanted to develop a stronger, more connected community of confident women ready to step forward, lead with clarity and contribute to the company’s long-term success.

Recognised Leadership Qualification
Participants completed a Scottish Qualifications Authority (SQA) recognised Executive Diploma (SCQF Level 7 / RQF Level 5), gaining an SQA-certified qualification alongside practical leadership skills.
Designed for Construction Teams
A bespoke women in leadership training programme for the construction sector, tailored to CCG’s environment and delivered face-to-face for maximum relevance and engagement.
Confidence That Translates to Action
Delivered weekly over five weeks, the programme enabled immediate workplace application - helping women build confidence, speak up, influence decisions and step into leadership roles with impact.
The Approach
CCG partnered with The Power Within to deliver our SQA-certified Women in Leadership programme, tailored specifically to their organisation and working environment.
While the programme is typically delivered over seven half-day sessions, CCG required a structure that balanced operational demands with consistent learning momentum.
Together, we designed a bespoke in-person format:
- 4 full in-person training days
- 2 Women in Leadership sessions delivered per day
- 1 day per week across 4 consecutive weeks
- Graduation and celebration event in week five
This weekly cadence allowed time for reflection, peer discussion and real-time application between sessions, helping learning translate directly into behaviour change on site and in the office.
Nine women from across CCG completed the programme, representing a range of departments and career stages.
The Impact
The programme created both individual and organisational change.
Participants gained greater confidence, stronger communication skills and a clearer leadership presence, enabling them to contribute more effectively and consistently across teams. The dedicated cohort also fostered connection and peer support, giving women space to openly share experiences, challenges and solutions unique to working in the construction industry.
As a result, CCG strengthened:
- Leadership confidence and self-belief
- Alignment around company values and communication
- Collaboration and peer support networks
- A visible pipeline of future female leaders
- A culture that actively supports equity and progression
The qualification added further credibility, giving participants formal recognition alongside their development.
The Result
By investing in a tailored women in leadership training programme for construction, CCG has strengthened both capability and culture. Female managers are more confident, connected and visible, with the tools to lead effectively and support others around them.
The programme has helped create not only stronger individual leaders, but a more inclusive and aligned organisation, one where women are empowered to step forward, influence outcomes and shape the future of the business.
