The Challenge: Leading Change Across a Newly Amalgamated Organisation
Scottish Leather Group was formed through the amalgamation of three long-established and highly respected businesses, Bridge of Weir, Lang and Muirhead. While each organisation brought deep expertise, heritage and strong leadership capability, the integration created a complex challenge.
Each business operated with its own communication styles, leadership approaches and values, which made it difficult to create alignment across the newly formed group. Leaders were navigating uncertainty, managing teams through change, and attempting to build a single organisational identity – all while maintaining performance and engagement.
The key challenge was to unify leadership language, values and communication across the group, strengthen change capability at every leadership level, and equip leaders to confidently guide their people through the transition into one cohesive organisation: Scottish Leather Group.
The Client
Scottish Leather Group is a family-run business delivering some of the finest quality and most sustainable leather to luxury brands around the world. Formed through the integration of Bridge of Weir, Lang and Muirhead, the group combines heritage craftsmanship with innovation, supplying premium global markets including automotive, aviation, marine and luxury interiors.
With people and values at the heart of the organisation, Scottish Leather Group recognised that successful integration would depend not just on operational alignment, but on strong, people-centred leadership capable of navigating change effectively.

The Solution
Scottish Leather Group partnered with The Power Within Training to deliver a structured Leading with Change programme, designed to strengthen leadership capability and support organisational change.
The programme was intentionally rolled out in phases from November 2024 through 2025, ensuring alignment from senior leadership through to operational management:
- First our Four-day Leading with Change programme was delivered to the CEO and Senior Leadership Team, establishing a shared leadership framework, values-led decision making and a consistent approach to leading change across the group
- Followed by 3 cohorts, of our two-day Leading Change programme delivered to managers, middle management, supervisors and shift managers across the three original organisations
This tiered approach ensured that leadership behaviours, communication and values were reinforced consistently across the entire group.
The programmes focused on developing leaders who could:
- Lead people confidently through organisational change
- Improve communication across teams and sites
- Align leadership behaviours and values across the group
- Build engagement, accountability and trust during periods of uncertainty
To date, 44 leaders across Scottish Leather Group have completed either the Leading with Change or Leading Change Programme, strengthening change leadership capability at every level of the organisation.
